When Should I Start Monetising My Blog?

This is probably one of the most important questions bloggers and webmasters who want to make money off their blogs ask themselves. However, you will be glad to learn that there are no rules or restrictions on what you can try to make an income from your blog or website. One of the greatest things being a blogger is, you create your own path, come up with your own ideas and go your own way. You should always keep in mind that building trust with your readers is the key to be successful in making money with your blog or website. We will discuss in this article about when you should start monetising your blog.

Building trust with your audience will need some times. You will need to create unique and original blog posts or articles to build trust with the readers. You will need to build a good traffic of thousands of visitors a month to your blog who will enjoy reading your posts and come back often to find out more on your blog website or website.

Remember customers/visitors/readers are real human beings like you. So they will understand that it is quite logical and normal for you to want to monetise a blog or website but if you are blogging or writing for fun only then that is another thing. So, I would recommend that once you start receiving a good amount of traffic, i.e., at least 50 unique visitors a day, you should seriously focus on monetising your blog or website.

I will explain why 50 unique visitors a day to your blog is a good amount of traffic. If you have quality posts on your blog or website and have just started off your blogging website or business website, it is a great start. I would say that if you have a slow start but keep working hard writing informative content for your readers, then getting 50 to 100 unique visitors a day after 3 to 6 months is a good achievement.

If you can post 50 quality and unique articles or blog posts within first two months of starting out your blog, and add another 20 or more in the the next couple of months, you should see yourself through this small target of 50 unique visitors a day just after 4 months. I am talking about setting small targets and achieving them to help you achieve more in the long-term consistently. Sure, there are many dedicated bloggers and webmasters who can get much more traffic in less than a month.

Once you start getting about 50 unique visitors a day, you have a real chance of making an income with your blog or website. If you have a quality and organic traffic to your blog then chances are some of the visitors will most likely click an ad displayed on your blog, or make a purchase or take any other action going to an affiliate partner or merchant’s website through their links placed on your blog or website. You should attract organic traffic to your blog.

You can expect from even a small number of quality visitors to take some actions while they stay on your blog or website. That is why creating good, original and helpful content is essential to bring quality traffic to your blog.

This is just an example, but yet I am writing this to give you an idea about how much you can earn from 1,500 unique visitors to your blog. Say for example, if 10% of them click on ads on your blog then you will get 150 clicks, assuming each visitor clicks just once on any ads. If each click on an ad generates $.30 on an average, then you will make $45 a month. Sure, you can generate money from other methods using on your blog too.

These methods for monetising a blog or website include running affiliate programs, selling direct advertising space, eBooks, and merchandises, and adding a donation button to your blog, etc among many other methods.

Finally, I would like to conclude recommending to you to start with a couple of methods to monetise your blog or website even if get 10 unique visitors a day. But keep in mind that if you clutter your blog with too many ads or types of online ads, affiliate links, banners, etc then many of the readers might not be interested in your blog. Create useful content and build trust with the readers to increase your blog or web traffic and earn more money accordingly.
